Tapani Lehtinen is convinced his journalist
wife has disappeared. But in a
Helsinki struggling with the effects of
climate change, no one blinks an eye at
24 hours of telephone silence from one
woman. And so Lehtinen is forced to
look for his wife himself – and follow a
trail that leads deeper and deeper into
the dark core of a fracturing world.
The Healer is a relentless crime novel and a poetic love
story. It’s a depiction of what each of us is capable of at
our best, what we are guilty of at our worst, how far we
are willing to go on another’s behalf – and how love is the
greatest of all forces.

Acclaim for My Brother’s Keeper (2009):
“The style is punchy and sharp…a fine crime novel; the author’s
careful work is evident throughout. …Antti Tuomainen
is a new, promising Finnish noir novelist.”
– keijo kettunen, helsingin sanomat
”Tuomainen writes powerful, straightforward prose and vibrant
dialog… The people are flesh and blood.”
– marja kuparinen, kirkko & kaupunki
”Tuomainen writes effectively, tautly, without superfluous embellishments.
He relies on fast, real-sounding dialog, with its
attendant grunts and abrupt responses… A fresh and hopefully
permanent newcomer has arrived on the detective novel scene.”
– kirsi luukkanen, ruumiin kulttuuri
